Description:

2,5-Dimethyl-3(2H)furanone (DMF) is a solvent that is used in the synthesis of antibiotics, cyclohexenones, and other organic compounds. DMF is a reaction product of 2-acetylpyrazine and an aldol condensation. It has been shown to be an exploratory solvent for the extraction of caffeine from coffee beans. DMF also has been shown to cause turbidity when dissolved in water, which can affect its suitability as a solvent for some applications. The regression model was used to predict the solubility of DMF in water at different temperatures and concentrations.
