Description:

2,3-Dichloro-5-(trichloromethyl)pyridine is a synthetic chemical that can be used as an intermediate for the production of other chemicals. It is produced by reacting hydrogen fluoride with sodium carbonate in a reaction vessel and then adding molybdenum, zirconium oxide, and magnesium oxide. The reaction products are chlorinated to form 2,3-Dichloro-5-(trichloromethyl)pyridine. Impurities in the product include hydrogen chloride gas and hexacarbonyl.
