(+)-N,N'-(1S,2S)-1,2-Diaminocyclohexanediylbis(2-pyridinecarboxamide) is a transition metal complex with allylic ligands. It can be used as a reagent for the preparation of ethanolic solutions. This compound reacts with alkylating agents in the presence of base to give a mixture of alkylated products. The reaction has been found to be effective for the synthesis of ethers and laboratory solvents such as toluene and ethanol. (+)-N,N'-(1S,2S)-1,2-Diaminocyclohexanediylbis(2-pyridinecarboxamide) is soluble in organic solvents such as ether and soluble in crystalline form.
