2-((3-(((2,3-Dihydro-2-oxo-1H-benzimidazol-5-yl)amino)-carbonyl)-2-hydroxy-1-naphthalenyl)-azo)-benzoic acid methylester is a polymerization inhibitor that can be used in multilayer polymers. It is a bifunctional compound which can be used as a hardener for the patterning of polymers and to reduce the viscosity of polymer solutions. 2-(3-(2,3 Dihydro 2 oxo 1H benzimidazol 5 ylamino) carbonyl) - 2 hydroxy 1 naphthalenyl) azo benzoic acid methylester has been shown to inhibit the polymerization of ethylene glycol dimethacrylate by irradiation and prevent the degradation of polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
