Description:
O,S-Diethyldithiocarbonate is a compound that can be used to diagnose the presence of fatty acids in biological samples. It is a colorless solid that reacts with fatty acids to form an ester. The reaction solution turns from clear to light yellow after the addition of hydrochloric acid and zinc diethyldithiocarbamate. O,S-Diethyldithiocarbonate is often used as a catalyst in organic synthesis reactions. Chronic exposure to this substance may be toxic to hematopoietic cells.
