Description

Acetylchloride (AC) is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent that is used to treat women with bacterial vaginosis. The drug has been shown to inhibit the growth of viruses, including HIV and herpes simplex virus type 2, by interfering with the synthesis of their outer envelope proteins. AC also has antifungal activity, which is due to its ability to disrupt cell membranes and cause cell lysis. Acetylchloride has been found to be effective against P. aeruginosa infections in clinical trials. The drug has been shown to have a good clinical response rate in patients with chronic bronchitis and cystic fibrosis. Acetylchloride is well tolerated and can be used for prolonged periods at high doses without significant side effects.
