The solvents used in this reaction are formamide and 1-bromo-3-chloropropane. The product is purified by recrystallization and then converted to ivabradine by hydrolysis of the acetal moiety using hydrochloric acid. (1S)-4,5-Dimethoxy-1-[(methylamino)methyl]benzocyclobutaneHydrochloride can be used as a pre-treatment to increase the efficiency of industrial processes.
