4,6-Dimethyl-1H-pyrimidine-2-thione hydrochloride is a molecule that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro. This drug binds to dna and inhibits its replication by binding to the nucleotide bases. The drug also interacts with other molecules, such as amides and thiourea, reversibly inhibiting the formation of hydrogen bonds with amino acids. 4,6-Dimethyl-1H-pyrimidine-2-thione hydrochloride has been shown to prevent corrosion in thin films by inhibiting the production of hydrogen chloride gas.
