Product Information
- 2,7-Diiodophenanthrene-9,10-dione
2,7-Diiodophenanthrenequinone is a semiconductor with a band gap of 2.8 eV. It has been used in the fabrication of transistors and photovoltaic devices that convert solar energy to electrical energy. The material is soluble in tetrahydrofuran and dichloromethane, which can be used for solvent casting or spin coating methods. 2,7-Diiodophenanthrenequinone yields a high photovoltaic conversion efficiency when exposed to sunlight, but emits toxic amines when heated to temperatures above 400 °C. This material has an interesting conformational optical property that causes it to change from a semiconducting polymer to an insulating polymer at room temperature.
