3,5-Diiodobenzoic acid is a chiral molecule that can be used as a building block for supramolecular chemistry. It has been shown to reversibly inhibit the enzyme 4-amino-3,5-diiodobenzoic acid amidohydrolase in bile and maternal blood plasma with an IC50 of approximately 0.4 mM. 3,5-Diiodobenzoic acid also has a vapor pressure of 0.07 mmHg at 25°C, which makes it suitable for switchable copolymerization. 3,5-Diiodobenzoic acid is soluble in methanol, acetone, chloroform and dichloromethane and insoluble in water. The crystal structure of 3,5-Diiodobenzoic acid was determined using x-ray diffraction data collected from a single crystal.
