Description:
2,6-Dimethoxyisonicotinaldehyde is a natural product that belongs to the class of antibiotics. It has broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against Gram-negative bacteria and inhibits efflux pumps in Gram-positive bacteria. 2,6-Dimethoxyisonicotinaldehyde is isolated from the chloroform extract of Tubercle bacilli and its biological activities have been optimised using chromatographic techniques. The antibiotic has been shown to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli and Escherichia coli, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis.
