Description

3,5-Dibromoanthranilamide is a quinazolinone that has been shown to be an effective antibacterial agent. This compound is able to inhibit bacterial cell growth through its ability to inhibit the synthesis of proteins and RNA. 3,5-Dibromoanthranilamide was shown to have a photophysical property that could be used for detecting this compound in urine samples. The mechanism of action for 3,5-dibromoanthranilamide is not yet known but it has been hypothesized that the antibiotic may work by blocking cross-coupling reactions in the bacterial ribosome or by inhibiting cellular protein synthesis.
