Product Information
- 4-Carbamoyl-1,2-benzenediol
- Benzamide, 3,4-Dihydroxy-
3,4-Dihydroxybenzamide is a drug that has been shown to be effective against cancer. It inhibits the enzyme tyrosinase and blocks the synthesis of melanin in the skin. 3,4-Dihydroxybenzamide also has an effect on serotonin levels in the brain by inhibiting the conversion of serotonin to 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) by dioxygenation. The ring-opening reaction is catalyzed by extradiols, which are produced from proton action on endophytic fungus. This reaction is bifunctional and involves both substrate concentration and kinetic parameters. 3,4-Dihydroxybenzamide has been found to be effective for treating skin disorders such as vitiligo and alopecia areata due to its ability to inhibit tyrosinase activity.
