Description:
(2S)-1-(1,2-Dioxo-3,3-dimethylpentyl)-2-pyrrolidinecarboxylicacid (PDE5i) is a compound that is used to treat erectile dysfunction. PDE5i function by binding to the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), which is responsible for breaking down cGMP. This prevents the breakdown of cGMP, resulting in relaxation of smooth muscle cells in the corpus cavernosum and increased blood flow to the penis. PDE5i is also used as an experimental therapy for neuropathy and dementia.
