Description:

Cis-dithiocyanatobis(N,N'-2,2'-bipyridyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid)ruthenium is a hydrogen fluoride (HF)-stable and light-sensitive dye that can be used in solar cells. It has been shown to be stable under illumination in the presence of water and to generate a photocurrent. This dye has also been shown to have a low energy optical absorption band with a broad absorption spectrum that ranges from UV to visible light. Cis-dithiocyanatobis(N,N'-2,2'-bipyridyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid)ruthenium is a redox dye that undergoes oxidation and reduction reactions to produce an electron transfer between the dye molecule and the electrode. This electron transfer is enhanced by hydrogen bonding interactions between the dye molecule and the polymer film.
