(-)-1-(2,5-Dimethoxy-4-iodophenyl)-2-aminopropaneHydrochloride (DOI) is a psychoactive drug with stimulant and hallucinogenic effects. It has been shown to inhibit the serotonin reuptake in rats and produce symptoms of chronic schizophrenia in humans. DOI also has antioxidative properties that may be useful for the treatment of psychosis and psychotic disorders. This drug has been shown to activate signal pathways such as 5-HT2A receptors, which are known to regulate mood, appetite, sleep, memory, sexual desire, temperature regulation and pain perception. DOI is derived from benzofuran derivatives and is closely related to other psychedelic drugs such as LSD or 2C-B.
