3,4-Dimethoxy-alpha-methyl-dopa is a chiral compound. It can be synthesized from the methylation of alpha-methyl-tyrosine with hydrochloric acid and sodium methoxide in methanol. 3,4-Dimethoxy-alpha-methyl-dopa is used as a chiral synthon for the synthesis of various organic compounds and has been shown to have pharmacological properties.
