2,3-Dihydro-6-methylthieno[2,3-c]furan is a synthetic compound that belongs to the group of n-propyl compounds. It is synthesized by the introduction of an acid in a tetrahydrothiophene ring. The synthesis can be done with or without the presence of nitrate ions. It also has two hydroxyl groups and four methyl groups. When synthesized with nitrate ions, impurities such as ethylbenzene, acetophenone, and propylene oxide may be formed. 2,3-Dihydro-6-methylthieno[2,3-c]furan is an analog of 2,5-dimethylthiophene and is used as a solvent in organic chemistry.
