Description

2,6-Diamino-3-(2,3,5-trichlorophenyl)-pyrazine is a conjugate of carbamazepine and a reactive functional group. It is used as a diagnostic for Alzheimer's disease because it can be detected in the blood in patients with this condition. 2,6-Diamino-3-(2,3,5-trichlorophenyl)-pyrazine is also used to identify virus or bacteria that may have invaded the body by reacting with their functional groups. The compound has been shown to bind to sodium channels and block them from functioning properly. This prevents the flow of ions across the membrane and causes nerve impulses to stop propagating.
