Product Information
- Dimethyl isocinchomeronate
- Pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylic acid dimethyl ester
- Dimethyl-2,5-pyridinecarboxylate
Dimethyl pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylate (DMPDA) is a chiral amine that has been used in the synthesis of acetylcholinesterase inhibitors. DMPDA can be synthesized from pyridine and acetic anhydride by refluxing in isoform-selective solvents. The reaction requires high activity of the acid group, which is accomplished with the use of isoform-selective solvents. This compound has shown to have high activity against cytosolic acetylcholinesterase isoforms and it is potent in its inhibition of this enzyme. DMPDA also has a dehydrative reaction that yields a high yield of product.
