Description

3,4-Dichlorophenyl Isothiocyanate is an allosteric inhibitor of the phosphatase enzyme. It binds to the active site of the enzyme and prevents it from converting phosphate into orthophosphate. 3,4-Dichlorophenyl Isothiocyanate inhibits the production of hydrogen peroxide in plants by blocking the activity of hydrogen peroxide reductase, which is involved in catalyzing this reaction. This compound has been shown to have a high affinity for chloride ion binding sites. 3,4-Dichlorophenyl Isothiocyanate also has a high affinity for aromatic hydrocarbons and heterocycles such as pyridine. The chemical nature and physical properties of 3,4-Dichlorophenyl Isothiocyanate are similar to those of chlorine.
