Description:
Wogonin is a flavonoid that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and cerebrovascular disease activities. It is found in the plant Scutellaria baicalensis, which has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries. Wogonin inhibits the production of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and other inflammatory mediators, and also suppresses the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) from macrophages. Wogonin was shown to inhibit inflammatory responses in mice by blocking phospholipase A2 activity and decreasing the production of arachidonic acid metabolites.
