1,6-Dioxaspiro[2.5]octane is a heterogeneous mixture of compounds that includes tetrahydropyran and oxirane. It inhibits the FGF receptor by binding to its extracellular domain and is used in the treatment of cancer. 1,6-Dioxaspiro[2.5]octane has been shown to be an alkylating agent that can cause DNA damage through the formation of epoxides, which are mutagenic and have antiproliferative effects. This compound also has thiourea as a side chain, which is a nucleophile that can react with electrophiles such as oxiranes to form new bonds.
