2,6-Diiodo-dithieno[3,2-b;2',3'-d]thiophene is a thiophene that has been crystallized and studied by x-ray crystallography. The molecule has a cyclic structure with two rings and three double bonds. This compound is soluble in organic solvents such as chloroform or benzene, but not in water. The voltammetric measurements of 2,6-diiodo-dithieno[3,2-b;2',3'-d]thiophene have shown that it undergoes reversible one electron oxidation and reduction reactions. It also has been found to be an efficient hole transport material for pentacene devices.
