Product Information
2,3-Dihydroxy-1-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)propan-1-one is a phenolic compound found in the genus Quillaja. It can be isolated from this plant by liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. 2,3-Dihydroxy-1-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)propan-1-one has shown to inhibit cancer cell growth and induce apoptosis. This compound has also been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human cancer cells through the inhibition of DNA synthesis and cell cycle progression. The inhibition of DNA synthesis may be due to its ability to bind to the enzyme topoisomerase II and block the formation of covalent complexes with DNA, preventing transcription and replication. 2,3DHPPA also inhibits protein synthesis by binding to ribosomes.
