Description:

2,4-DIMETHYLQUINOLINE-3-CARBOXYLIC ACID is an enantiomer of 2,4-dimethylquinoline-3-carboxylic acid. It is a chiral compound that can be synthesized from the reaction of methyl benzoylformate with hydrochloric acid and dihydroquinoline. Plasmodium falciparum is a parasite that causes malaria in humans and other animals. The drug has been shown to be effective against plasmodium falciparum and trypanosoma, which are protozoans responsible for sleeping sickness. This drug is reactive with plasmodium falciparum, leading to its death by DNA fragmentation and inhibition of protein synthesis.
