2,6-Dimethylanilino(oxo)acetic acid is a derivative of 2-amino-2,6-dichloroacetic acid that has been reported to occur in human urine and soil. It has been shown to inhibit the uptake of halides by soil microorganisms and may be used as an alternative to trifluoroacetic acid. 2,6-Dimethylanilino(oxo)acetic acid was modeled using molecular modeling software and showed potential use with polyamine oxidase. The phylogenetic tree of 2,6-dimethylanilino(oxo)acetic acid was analyzed to determine the sequences present for this compound in organisms such as cyanobacteria and plants.
