Description

Direct black 80 is a synthetic, insoluble, kinetic pigment. It has been used as a carbon source for the production of hydrogen and inorganic compounds. Direct black 80 is insoluble in organic solvents and soluble in inorganic solvents. It has been found to be responsible for the coloration of some plastics, paper, and textiles. The pigment is also used in paints as a viscosity-increasing agent, but it can cause paint to become brittle when exposed to light.
