Description:

3,6-Dihydroxyphthalimide is a chemical compound that has been shown to have fluorescence properties. It is used as an indicator dye in analytical chemistry and can be used in the determination of high concentrations of acid or alkali. 3,6-Dihydroxyphthalimide is an acceptor with carboxylic acids and alizarin. It has been shown to react with phenolphthalein as well as diacetate. The techniques used for determining the fluorescence properties of 3,6-dihydroxyphthalimide are similar to those used for other compounds such as fluorescein or protonated anthranilic acid. 3,6-Dihydroxyphthalimide reacts with bromophenol and bromocresol in a manner similar to the reaction between calmagite and salicylic acid.
