Description

2,4-Dichloro-5-cyclopropylpyrimidine (2,4-DCPP) is a lead compound for the treatment of cancer. It has shown significant inhibitory effect on the pathway that leads to the production of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). This inhibition results in a significant inhibitory effect on tumor development. 2,4-DCPP also inhibits the production of cyclin D1 and other proteins that are involved in cell cycle regulation. The pharmacokinetic properties of this drug have been studied in rats.
