Description

4,7-Dibromo-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole is a heterocyclic compound that belongs to the group of redox potentials. It has been shown to be a good electrochemical electron donor and acceptor. 4,7-Dibromo-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole has low energy and is therefore able to cross the biological membrane barrier by passive diffusion. It can be used as an optical probe for detection sensitivity in wastewater treatment due to its ability to produce red fluorescence under UV light. The transport properties of 4,7-dibromo-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole are also useful for the removal of heavy metals from water. This compound can also be used as a model system for investigating the adsorption mechanism of organic molecules on metal surfaces such as palladium and platinum catalysts.
