2,5-Diphenyl-4,6-bis(dihydroquinine)pyrimidine is a chiral, yields, enantioselective catalyst that has been used in the synthesis of natural products. The substrate for this catalyst is an alkene with two diastereomers. This catalyst can also be used to synthesize trisubstituted esters by adding achiral amines. The compound is prepared from tert-butyl and organocatalytic esters under mild conditions.
