(E,E)-7,9-Dodecadien-1-yl acetate is a pheromone that has been identified in the lepidoptera. It is used as an ovicide and a larvicide against the larvae of the moth Lobesia botrana. This insecticide has been shown to be effective against other insect pests such as the tobacco hornworm, tomato fruitworm, and cotton bollworm. (E,E)-7,9-Dodecadien-1-yl acetate is also used in combination with other insecticides to control adult populations of Lepidoptera. This compound has not been found to have any residue problems and can be used without restrictions on crops that are not food or feed crops. (E,E)-7,9-Dodecadien-1-yl acetate has been shown to damage plants if applied untreated or when combined with other organophosphorus insecticides.
