Product Information
Dimethyl 4-aminoisophthalate is a bromelain inhibitor that has shown potent antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria. It inhibits the target enzyme catalysing the first step of bacterial cell wall synthesis, specifically the formation of benzoxazine rings from c1-4 alkyl chloride. The synthesised dimethyl 4-aminoisophthalate was found to be an efficient and selective inhibitor of bacterial cell wall synthesis and was tested at concentrations from 0.1 to 10 μM. It showed inhibitory activities against strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Bacillus subtilis at all concentrations tested.
