5-(Dimethylamino)pentanoic acid is a colorimetric and immunoassay method that can be used to measure the levels of hct116 in cancer cells. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells, with sensitivity comparable to cisplatin, but without the side effects. 5-(Dimethylamino)pentanoic acid has also been shown to inhibit tumor cell proliferation in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, it is more specific for cancer cells than cisplatin as it does not affect healthy cells as much. The technique also provides an opportunity for underserved populations to have access to this technology.
