Description:
1,2-Dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazol-3-one is a proton acid that is used as a corrosion inhibitor. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of fungi by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, which is an essential component of fungal cell membranes. 1,2-Dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazol-3-one binds to the hydroxyl group on iron ions and prevents them from participating in redox reactions. This results in a decrease in oxidation and an increase in reduction. 1,2-Dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazol-3-one also has anti inflammatory properties due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
