It has been shown to be effective against chronic bronchitis and infectious diseases, such as influenza, herpes simplex virus, and HIV. Dichlorobenzyl alcohol is also active against some bacterial strains. The activity index of dichlorobenzyl alcohol is 2.5-3 times higher than that of benzalkonium chloride or chloride.
