Dimethyl 1,8-anthracenedicarboxylate is a chalcone with two carbonyl groups. It is a novel polymerization catalyst that can be used for the synthesis of polyesters and other related materials. This molecule has a dihedral angle of about ±60° and an aziridination reaction that is resistant to acidolysis. Dimethyl 1,8-anthracenedicarboxylate also shows viscosity properties at room temperature that are higher than those of other chalcones.
