(9Z)-9-Dodecen-1-ol acetate is a synthetic compound that has been used in biological studies. It can be prepared by the reaction of hexane with 9-dodecenoic acid and is an analog of dodecanol. This compound has shown potential as a chemical pesticide, but its use is limited by the fact that it is easily degraded by light and oxygen. (9Z)-9-Dodecen-1-ol acetate has been found to have an inhibitory effect on lepidoptera, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of proteins in these insects.
