(2E)-2,3-Dibromo-2-butene-1,4-diol is a polyurethane. It is soluble in water and has a high thermal stability. (2E)-2,3-Dibromo-2-butene-1,4-diol emits light at wavelengths of 553 nm and has an emission intensity of 0.01 lm/g. The residue from this chemical has been found to be carboxylic with a noncellular distribution in the environment. (2E)-2,3-Dibromo-2-butene-1,4-diol is an isomeric chemical that can be used as a surfactant or diacid in elastomers. It also has molecular weight of 216.26 g/mol and hydroxyl groups on the 2nd and 3rd carbons.
