2,4-Dichloroanisole is a chemical that has an efficient method of extraction and a high yield. Geosmin is the most important degradation product of 2,4-dichloroanisole in water but it can also be degraded by triclosan and chlorine atoms. 2,4-Dichloroanisole can be activated by chemical ionization with trifluoroacetic acid and its formation rate is dependent on the concentration of 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid in solution.
