- o-Nitrophenyl dodecyl ether
Dodecyl 2-nitrophenyl ether (DNP) is a primary amine that has been used as a calibration agent for ion selective electrodes. It is also used to measure the chloride concentration in saliva. DNP is not detected by the low detection limit of ion-selective electrodes, but it can be detected by titration methods. DNP has been shown to have an oxidation resistance of greater than 10 hours when exposed to air, and it does not decompose in these conditions. DNP also functions as a surfactant in analytical chemistry.
