Diquat is a herbicide that can be absorbed through the skin. It is used to control vegetation in agricultural fields, as well as for weed and brush control in pastures, roadsides, and other areas. Diquat has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. The matrix effect has been studied using trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) as a solvent and silver ions as a catalyst. TFA catalyzes the oxidation of dihydrobenzoic acid to produce an analytical method that can detect concentrations of diquat in urine samples with high sensitivity and selectivity. The transport rate of diquat can be determined by measuring the surface-enhanced Raman spectra on multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). Cacodylic acid is a molecule that inhibits ferroptosis, which is a form of programmed cell death induced by iron starvation.
