Product Information
2,5-Di-tert-butylaniline is a chlorinating agent that reacts with DNA to form thymine lesion. This lesion can be repaired by the action of thymine glycol, which converts a T to a C. The chlorination of DNA can induce cancer cell death and has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor cells in vitro. 2,5-Di-tert-butylaniline is also known to react with amines, including phenoxy groups and xanthine. These reactions are thought to be responsible for its carcinogenic effects.
