Description:
4-(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)butyric acid is a deodorizer that can be used for the treatment of malodorous substances. It has been shown to be effective in reducing the odour from thionyl chloride, hexafluoroisopropanol, and 4-tert-butylbenzoic acid. 4-(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)butyric acid is synthesized by reacting an amine with a fatty acid in the presence of a dehydrating agent. The product is purified by crystallization and then recrystallized. This process can be repeated until the desired purity is achieved.
