Description

3-Desacetylsalannin is a natural product that is soluble in organic solvents and acetyloxy. It has been found to be expressed in the leaves of Meliaceae plants. 3-Desacetylsalannin exhibits insecticidal properties and has been shown to be effective against tobacco budworm larvae. This compound can also inhibit the growth of bacteria through its ability to bind to bacterial DNA gyrase, which prevents the enzyme from synthesizing bacterial DNA. 3-Desacetylsalannin has been shown to have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Clostridium perfringens
