Dilauroyl peroxide is the simplest of all organic peroxides. It is a reactive chemical that reacts with biological molecules such as amino acids and proteins, leading to cross-linking. Dilauroyl peroxide is an ester linkages cross-linking agent that reacts with water vapor in the air to produce hydrogen peroxide and aldehydes. The hydroxy group on the molecule can be oxidized to form an ethylene diamine, which has a hydroxyl group on one end and a carboxylic acid on the other end. This molecule can be used as a monocarboxylic acid or an ester linkages cross-linking agent.
