Product Information
(4R)-2,2-Dimethyl-4-thiazolidinecarboxylic acid (DMT) is a synthetic intermediate for the production of prostate-specific antigen (PSA). DMT is synthesized by cyclization of 4,4'-dimethoxybenzhydrazide with methylthiobenzoate. The cyclization is mediated by the carboxyl group of the esters and the hydride group of the methyl groups. This process leads to the formation of an intermediate that is then oxidized to form DMT. DMT can be used in peptide derivatives because it has a conformation that mimics PSA.
