Product Information
2,6-Dimethyl-4-(3-nitrophenyl)-1,4-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid (DMP) is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme diastolic pressure. It inhibits energy metabolism in humans and has been shown to have an effect on systolic blood pressure in rats. DMP also increases cardiac hypertrophy and neuronal death in anesthetized animals. DMP is used for the treatment of high blood pressure and heart failure. DMP inhibits carotid artery contractions by blocking sodium channels and can be used to treat angina pectoris. It can also be used as a vasodilator in the treatment of peripheral vascular disease. DMP is marketed under the trade names Carphedon or Nitrosonin.
