Product Information
Dimethylcyclohexanamine is an industrial chemical that is used as a catalyst for the reductive amination of formate and ammonia. It can also be used to synthesize leuckart-wallach reaction products, such as 4,4-dimethylcyclohexanemethanol. Dimethylcyclohexanamine can be produced by reacting isopropyl alcohol with ammonium formate and then reducing the resultant formamides with hydrogen gas. The product can be purified by distillation or recrystallization. Dimethylcyclohexanamine has been shown to be effective in a variety of industrial processes, including the production of nylon 6,6.
